Starting spring 2020, the Hungarian low-cost Wizz Air will fly to Minsk. This was announced by Artem Sikorsky, Director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus. It will be the first low-cost company flight to Minsk.
The Hungarian aviation authorities want to sign a memorandum with Belarus. It is planned that the low-cost flight will fly along the route Budapest – Minsk from the spring 2020 every day. Other routes, for example, to regional cities of Belarus or to other capitals of the EU have not yet been discussed.
We recall that at the end of March, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said: they are interested in low-cost transport to regional cities of Belarus. Earlier negotiations were held on attracting low-cost airlines in Belarus. Low-costs said they are watching our market and interested in it. But further it does not go, unfortunately. Low-cost companies are asking for not only discounts on ground handling, but also a certain percentage for the sale of duty free. At the same time, the Belarusian side made certain demands. For example, bring 100.000 tourists to Belarus.
