Republic of Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko on January, 9 2017 adopted a decree № 8 “On establishment of visa-free entry and exit of foreign citizens.” The document establishes a 5 days visa-free entry to Belarus through the “National Airport Minsk” for citizens of 39 European states (incl. all EU), the United States of America, Indonesia, Japan and Brazil.
This is primarily favorable for the States unilaterally determine the visa-free entry for Belarusian citizens and strategic partners of Belarus. The visa-free rules also cover persons without Estonian citizenship and non-citizens of Latvia.
The document is aimed to increase the flow of tourists, businessmen and individuals with a regular passport. But there are limitations. For example visa-free rules are not apply to foreigners engaged in official travel: special, diplomatic and other equivalents Passport.
For entry into the visa-free mode, traveler must have a valid passport or other equivalent document for travel abroad, cash (for each day of stay the amount of currency or Belarusian rubles, equivalent to not less than 20 euro), a medical insurance policy for an amount not less than 10 thousand euros, operating in Belarus.
Additional Requirement for Some Countries
For the citizens of Vietnam, Haiti, Gambia, Honduras, India, China, Lebanon, Namibia, Samoa required additional requirement is the existence of the document for going abroad a valid multiple visa EU member states or Schengen area with a mark on the entry into their territory, as well as tickets to the confirming them of departure from Minsk National airport within 5 days from the date of entry.
